If Sarah Palin didn't run

I'm saying "if" because I know she is going to. But hypothetically, if she didn't run, it would be the most disappointing thing that happened to women in a long time. If she didn't run, it would mean that everyone at NRO who think women should leave the room, won. It would mean that the Left who are terrified of strong women, won. It would mean that her enemies who did everything to smear her and her family, won. It would mean that she would be reduced to a "kingmaker" for the men. It would mean a return to business as usual in DC. It would mean nothing will ever change in our country. It would mean Obamacare will be in full effect and never repealed. It would mean our country would go down a shit hole so deep it would take a revolution to get it out.

But she is running, so I know there's still hope.

No one is writing about what this means to women. Have you noticed how many people are so absolutely convinced she's not running? Does the dinosaur media think women would be happy just to be a kingmaker? Do they think we should be satisfied with that, while the boys run the country? Do they think about what that would do to Palin's own personal dignity? I honestly believe they think she should be happy she got as far as she did and not try to accomplish anything more. Beggars can't be choosers, you know. They are so ancient. They are so condescending and chauvinistic. I'm wholeheartedly talking about the Right elite establishment, too. People who are that convinced she's not running don't know anything about her. They haven't read her books and don't understand her passion. She's not going to play second fiddle to anyone (no VP ever again, no kingmaker) and she loves this country too much to not try and stop the bleeding if she can. She knows she has a chance so she's going for it. The people who think she's not running are just hoping she doesn't.

Liberal women do everything to protect men, coddle them and forgive their mistakes. They luuuurve Bill Clinton to this day. That's why it's taken so long for a liberal woman to run for President, in my opinion. The men of the Right are bewildered by women who do it all. They don't understand them, and want them to go away. I'm sensing that the men of the establishment Right are starting to loathe Palin and Michele Bachmann for being strong, take-no-prisoners women.

Even though I don't support Bachmann politically at all, I'm glad she's taking the bull by the horns and running for POTUS in 2012. She needs to strike while the iron's hot, just like a man in her position would do. It's good for women. When Palin runs and wins the nomination, a true paradigm shift will occur. Thank goodness.

I just realized that what politicians do in their private lives do affect them in office, as far as they could be blackmailed with what people find. If a lobbyist or political enemy of Weiner found evidence, photos, etc. of his private bad behavior then they could blackmail him into doing many things in order to keep the photos out of the public. And I remember after the Arnold love-child news broke some people thought that a lot of his weird actions as governor now made sense, as in, he could have been blackmailed into doing them with info about his child and extra-marital affair. Or he could have had other affairs that he was being blackmailed with. So yeah, that stuff needs to be exposed. People who hold office can't do that stuff because it puts the office at risk. They need to resign if caught. I wholeheartedly disagree with how Weiner behaved and I do now understand why he was dogged. It just really creepily reminded me of how Palin was treated and seeing him resign sent a chill down my spine. Knowing he wouldn't have resigned if he hadn't been dogged with it. But yes, what he did was so wrong and inexcusable. He needed to go and it was good that people found out what he was doing.

Let me preface this by saying I wanted Anthony Weiner to resign and I'm glad he finally did. That he might have been saying innapropriate things to an underage girl is disgusting. However, (even though I'm glad conservatives controlled the message) I'm really sickened by the actions of the conservative bloggers who dogged, dogged, attacked, dogged, uncovered dirt, dogged, grabbed screen shots, dogged, posted filthy and embarassing private conversations to the world, dogged, until Weiner was forced to resign. I believe that was dirty politics just to get someone they don't like out of office. I know it felt good to see that arrogant blowhard get knocked down a peg. And it felt good to see him cry and that his career unraveled, but that was wrong, and it reminded me of how the corrupt media treats Palin.

Palin was (is) dogged, dogged, dogged, and had umpteen frivolous lawsuits filed against her just because the other side wanted her out of office and out of the spotlight. They wanted to take down their most feared opponent and did it by any means necessary. Until she was forced to resign. She called it "political bloodsport."

Now the main difference is that Weiner actually did something bad and lied, while Palin did nothing bad. Her detractors simply made up stuff and took her down financially by filing lawsuit after lawsuit, knowing she would have to resign because of it.

Palin didn't cry when she resigned. She pointed at her enemies, called them out and promised she wouldn't just sit down and shut up.

Weiner's supporters are so upset, saying he didn't need to resign and that he should still run for NYC mayor, as he was planning to do. I kind of agree. Minus the underage girl allegations, I don't think Weiner really did anything wrong as far as holding office goes. He wasn't bribing anyone, breaking the law, or using his office for corruption. He had a messy private life. His sham marriage is exposed. He took marriage vows that he didn't keep, and probably had zero intention of keeping. But as far as holding office he seemed passionate to the Left's cause and was doing whatever he needed to further it. So I say let the voters decide. The state of California seems to be happy to be going down the Lefty shithole by electing liberal after liberal, so maybe NYC will follow. I know I don't care who's mayor of New York. I do care about my mayor, my Governor, my President, whom I have some power to elect by my vote.

The media shouldn't attack people like this. They shouldn't bury stories, either. They just need to report the facts. If someone discovered Weiner was innapropriately speaking to an underage girl, that needed to be reported by ALL networks and that is a resigning offense. If he's using his office for corruption and bribery that should be reported. But this attacking day after day until someone cracks, is just evil and wrong. I hate how our politicians are attacked and treated like they're criminals constantly, just because we don't like them and want them to resign. The Left tried every trick in the book to get GWB to resign or impeached. I'm assuming they did to Richard Nixon as well and succeeded. They did it to Palin and succeeded. And now I see that the Right will do the same thing. I don't like it.

I take her at her word, but I know she's running, and this is the best evidence yet

I saw this on Conservatives4Palin this morning. It's the best confirmation from Palin herself that she will run in 2012.



I do take her at her word that she hasn't yet decided, but based on the words she used to answer the question, and her overall involvement in daily politics thus far, all points to a huge possibility of her running in 2012.

"Tough choices," that's a great phrase right there. That means she won't stand by and let a RINO squish take the nomination. She wants someone who will make the tough choices to repeal Obamacare, to take steps in significantly reducing government's reach, to undo all that Obama has done. There are several potential candidates who will not have the guts to do those things. She will.

She didn't give the usual "no" response when asked about running for President. She said it's too soon to decide, which is the truth. But meanwhile she is laying the groundwork for a run just in case.

I'm sure he *thought* he'd be a hero, but instead he's going to prison

During the 2008 campaign there were a few people so crazy that they voluntarily fell on the sword for Obama, probably thinking that they would be national heroes or rewarded with a seat in his administration. For instance there was "Troopergate" and the myriad of baseless ethics complaints, and not to mention David Kernell, the son of a (Democrat) congressman, who hacked Palin's email account thinking that he would set the world on fire with its "scandalous contents." He thought he was going to win the Congressional Medal of Honor and be BFF with Obama.

Instead, the 22-year-old was found guilty of using criminal means to interfere with a federal election, convicted of a felony and will probably get some time in prison. Was it worth it?

A federal jury in Knoxville last week convicted David Kernell, 22, of two charges in connection with the 2008 episode where he accessed the personal Yahoo e-mail account of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and then initiated a worldwide rummaging of its contents.

Kernell was found guilty of computer fraud - a misdemeanor subject to a prison term of up to one year -- and obstruction of justice, which carries a maximum 20-year sentence. He was found not guilty of wire fraud and the jury deadlocked on a fourth charge of identity theft, according to a report by WBIR.com.

No concerns, just lies

This post at the Corner got me thinking of how over a year ago the Left continually demanded that Palin should resign being the VP candidate because she had a family and needed to concentrate on being a mother and raising her kids. Their sexist excuse was because she had a 5-month-old special needs baby and his mother shouldn't be out working at job that would take away so much time from him.

And now, reading those sexist statements a year later you see that their “concerns” were all lies. When Palin did in fact have to resign because of attackers hell bent on destroying her career you would think the Left would say something like “she’s doing the right thing to protect her family.” Or “we continually wanted her to resign in order to take care of her family and now she’s doing it.” But no, they’re not about advocating for Palin’s children or her family or women in general. No, once she resigned all we heard from the Left was “QUITTER!!!!!”

So their feigned concern was nothing but an attempt to attack Palin. They don’t care about the message it says to women. They don’t care that they’re being hypocritical because they’re also attacking women on the Left with the exact same family arrangements as Palin. They don’t care that it makes the Left look like it’s stuck in the 1950’s as far as women’s roles in the work force go. The only thing they care about is destroying the Right, destroying conservatism and they know Palin is a huge threat to their goals. Their attacks, their "concern" was all about trying to destroy her any way they could. They will attack her no matter what she does.

As an aside, I get the feeling the Left has never underestimated Palin. They've never had doubts that she's a superstar with mass appeal, and they've never had doubts that she would be a great Republican president comprable to Ronald Reagan. That's why they keep on knocking her down, and go to extreme lengths to do so. And they are so effective with their attacks that the RINOs on the Right actually start to believe their lies. At least NRO seems to be turning the tide with their treatment of her recently.

Palin's "Independence Day" is coming soon

Sunday is the day when Palin will be free of the anklebiters, frivolous complaint filers, the "Celtic Diva" and all the rest who tried to use her position as Alaska's governor to destroy her. It certainly wasn't the path Palin originally intended to take, but she will succeed with it. Just like everything else she's done and been successful with. If *anyone* can do it, it's her.

There will be a series of picnics this weekend where Alaskans can see Palin before she leaves, and watch Lt. Governor Parnell get sworn in on Sunday.

Alaskans can picnic with Sarah Palin over the next three days before she steps down as governor.

It's an annual tradition for Alaska governors and includes free food, live entertainment, games and activities for children and "much more," according to a press release from Palin's office.

The first is today at IditaPark in Palin's hometown of Wasilla from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The next one is Saturday at the Delaney Park Strip in Anchorage from noon to 3 p.m.

Finally, there is the Fairbanks picnic from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Pioneer Park (formerly Alaskaland.) That will be Palin's last event as Alaska's governor.

After the picnic, Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be sworn in as her replacement.

Parnell's administration will deal with confidential leaks

Soon-to-be governor Sean Parnell released a statement today seeking to end leaks of confidential information in ethics probes, as what happened to Palin last week during an ethics violation investigation. It seems like these ankle-biters aren't satisfied with just filing frivolous complaints, they want to further abuse the system by leaking confidential, preliminary reports to the media. Shameful.

“These leaks must stop,” Parnell said. “If we allow public officials to be tried and convicted in the press through abuse of the legal process, then the Executive Branch is at risk. The rule of law is threatened.”

Parnell said that leaking the investigator’s preliminary report is just like walking into a courthouse, lifting some notes from the jurors’ break room and publishing them before all the evidence is in and before a verdict is reached.

Parnell recognized the need for accountability for public officials, but said the ethics laws are being abused.

Palin fights back against latest ethics smear

Yesterday an independent investigator for the Alaska Personnel Board said that Palin might be in violation of ethics law due to her creating a legal defense fund to pay her legal bills.

This is just completely outrageous. I'm not a lawyer but I expect that Palin's lawyers painstakingly scrutinized the law and every possible option in order to create a legal defense that was fully compliant with the law. Among the avalanche of frivlous ethics complaints filed against her, and the very high stakes for her career and her family, there's no way that she would have just thrown something together at the last minute that wasn't compliant. Even before her official defense fund debuted there were people donating to her that she had to turn down with the reason that it wasn't lawful.

Palin is fighting back against this final smear with guns blazing.

"I am informed that this fund was created by experienced attorneys in DC and was modeled after other similar funds established for senators and others. The fund itself was not created by me nor is it controlled by me. Neither I nor my lawyer has received a penny from this fund, and I am informed the Trustee was withholding any action or payment pending final resolution with the Personnel Board. This is the hallmark of legal compliance and prudent conduct," Palin said.

"In short, I have not 'acted' relative to the defense fund and it is misleading to say I have," she added. "I have no doubt that the Trust will welcome guidance by the Board, as do we all, but it is my understanding that this matter was not resolved and the complainant's violation of law has served to mislead the public and prejudice a fair review of this matter."

Several of the governor's top confidants also sharply criticized the report, pointing out that under Alaska law the contents of the document should have remained confidential because the matter is still under review.

"The investigator is still confidentially reviewing this matter," said Palin spokeswoman and top advisor Meg Stapleton in a statement. "It appears suspect that in the final days of the Governor's term, someone would again violate the law and announce a supposed conclusion before it is reached."

The governor's personal attorney, Thomas Van Flein, quickly followed Stapleton with a statement pointing out that he has "been working with the investigator regarding supplemental information. The matter is still pending. Whatever you have seen was released in violation of law."

More proof that the ethics complaints were out of control

Unbelievable. Do we need anymore evidence that the people filing these ethics complaints are complete nutjobs? They filed three more after governor Palin announced she was leaving at the end of the month. This just defies reality to me.

July 10, 2009 Fairbanks, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin’s chief of staff, Mike Nizich, issued the following statement today on the occasion of the 19th ethics complaint being filed against the governor or a member of her staff:

“A week ago today, the governor told Alaskans that she was about to step down as governor in large part because of the campaign of harassment against this office, in which the Executive Branch Ethics Act has been repeatedly abused. Incredibly, since then two more ethics complaints have been filed against the governor, including one today.

“Typically, the first action by these complainants has been an illegal one – to announce the filing of the complaints to the news media, in clear violation of the mandatory confidentiality in the law. Unfortunately, unlike the legislative ethics act, there is no provision in the executive ethics act for a complaint to be automatically dismissed when it is publicized prematurely. Regardless of that, it is breathtakingly hypocritical for anyone to violate the ethics law in the very act of making an allegation against the governor."

“Although the governor would not have thought it possible, the latest complaint rises to a new level of absurdity in alleging that she has been paid for interviews that she has given to the news media. It is amazing to me that anyone could think that, let alone put their name behind it and once again seek to distract state officials and needlessly increase their work load. The state is losing the value of some of its expenditures when public servants are pulled away from important assignments to deal with far-fetched and mean-spirited allegations.”

Governor Palin issued the following statement:

“The only saving grace in this recent episode is that it proves beyond any doubt the significance of the problem Alaska faces in the ‘new normal’ of political discourse. I hope this will be a wake-up call – to legislators, to commentators and to citizens generally – that we need a much more civil and respectful dialogue that focuses on the best interests of the state, rather than the petty resentments of a few.”

Of the ethics complaints against the governor or her staff, 15 have been resolved without any finding of wrongdoing, and four are now pending.

Who is "fit" for the presidency?

I was thinking about this question today. A lot of people have been saying Palin isn't "fit" to run for president because she quit her job as governor. I was was wondering how far they intended Palin to go before she was "fit?"

The Palin family is now facing legal bills that could easily go up to a million dollars. Again, this is a normal middle class family with three children still at home. At what point would her judgment be questioned by not quitting? I wonder, did they think Palin should just fight all these complaints endlessly until they literally bankrupted her family? Would that have made her "fit" or would it call into question her judgment to stop the financial bleeding for her family.

Both options were a lose-lose situation. If she quits now, she's seen as a quitter who abandoned her state. If she waits out the end of her term, she keeps her political aspirations intact but her family is bankrupt and destroyed.

Palin basically said "screw that" and decided to do what was best for her family. She will find a way to make it work for her career, too.

In my opinion, it is asking WAY too much to ask Palin to just allow her family to be destroyed and fight legal battles until her term is up. Not only the financial aspect, but there was also the cost to the AK taxpayers in their money and time. They don't need a governor who has to essentially do two full time jobs and Palin recognized that, too.

Saying she isn't fit for the presidency (as both sides of the aisle have done) is just another way of saying she should sit down, shut up and get out of politics. Those are the people who really didn't like her in the first place and are now just using this as an excuse to cut her down.

I trust Sarah

Sarah said yesterday:

I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision; all I can ask is that you TRUST me with this decision - but it's no more "politics as usual."

And I do. Palin hates the cesspool that politics has become. She's referred to it as "bloodsport" several times. She had to fight it when she ran for governor of Alaska, and while she was governor. The cronyism and corruption was out of control but she was a governor who wasn't in the pockets of big oil or other special interests. The rest of the picture is that the other politicians stuck waist deep in cronyism hated that about her.

But because of her actually using the office of governor for its intended purpose instead of personal gain, she got AGIA up and running after only two years - unprecedented considering it had been in the works for 30 years before her and no one could get it done. She got the oil and gas profits back in the pockets of Alaskans where it belongs. She got an entire laundry list of accomplishments done in her short time as governor - all of her detractors' efforts notwithstanding.

And now Alaska politics has become a cesspool again with the backstabbing and attacking Palin. I've chronicled how the legislature has all but turned against her, basically gridlocking any possible progress. There are groups of legislators who want her to fail because they disagree with her policies, there are those who want her to fail because she makes them look bad, and there are those who are completely jealous that she is so loved in the lower 48 that they can't stand it. Because of this she basically can't get work done anymore. That's something Palin was NEVER about. She hates wasting taxpayer's money. She hates big, slow government that isn't working for the people by the people. She really had to get out of there. She got done what she set out to do (which was more than anyone before her), and now she can grow politically even more.

Then there are the ethics complaints. Approximately $500,000 worth of legal bills. Can you imagine being a normal family and having to face that staggering number? That is staggering for a family that only makes about $150,000 per year and has three children still at home.

the State has wasted THOUSANDS of hours of YOUR time and shelled out some two million of YOUR dollars to respond to "opposition research" - that's money NOT going to fund teachers or troopers - or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the "politics of personal destruction" ... Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn't cost them a dime so they're not going to stop draining public resources - spending other peoples' money in their game.

You have to take her at her word that this is one of the major reasons she resigned. It is a valid, legitimate reason to step down. These complaints were NOT going to go away. This was the strategy the DNC used to "take her down" and you've got to love Sarah that she just circumvented them completely. She just went around their block. They thought there was absolutely no way she was going to resign (it was not even a slight possibility, obviously considered by most to be political suicide) so they thought while they had her hamstrung there in the office of the governor, they would tie her down with all these ethics complaints so she couldn't progress as a national candidate, she couldn't get her accomplishments done in Alaska, her family would be bankrupt, and they could always use the number of complaints filed as a weapon against her. She just found a way to stop all that insanity.

If I have learned one thing: LIFE is about choices! And one chooses how to react to circumstances. You can choose to engage in things that tear down, or build up. I choose to work very hard on a path for fruitfulness and productivity. I choose NOT to tear down and waste precious time; but to build UP this state and our country, and her industrious, generous, patriotic, free people!

Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: "Sit down and shut up", but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out. And a problem in our country today is apathy. It would be apathetic to just hunker down and "go with the flow".

Nah, only dead fish "go with the flow".

That is inspirational right there. That certainly is not the voice of someone who is quitting or abadonning her state. She's finding a way to fight that will be vastly more productive than sitting in her office as governor. She's finding a new direction. She's not one to sit and just "take it." She had to make this step in order to survive and I applaud her for that. It took a lot of guts, a lot of guts, but that is something we all knew Sarah had. I really am loving the fact that her detractors can't attack her anymore in the office.

There are some people who think she is quitting and abandonning her state. Take for instance, jaded US Senator Lisa Murkowski, who happens to be a Republican:

“I am deeply disappointed that the Governor has decided to abandon the State and her constituents before her term has concluded.”

Pathetic. I would love to see how Murkowski would handle 1/10th of the vicious attacks that Palin has received. I think her response would be a little more sympathetic if she had! Palin supported Murkowski in her Senate run and this is how the kindness is repaid...nice to know. Murkowski just wanted to get her jabs in while she can, repeating the MSM and Democrat talking points to smear Palin. Murkowski knows Palin's record and what she's accomplished, there was no reason to say that.

But in that vein, Palin took some precautionary steps to protect Alaska, AGIA and the rest by ensuring Lt. Governor Parnell would have enough time to be an effective governor. She has all the confidence in him. She also paved the way for him to be more secure in a reelection campaign - which is probably why Murkowski is upset. SHE probably wanted to run for governor and now knows since Parnell has Palin's blessing, she will be crushed.

Anyway, I have rambled enough. I trust Sarah. I trust her conservative instincts and I know she has a plan. She is exactly the type of person our forefathers wanted to be in public office - someone who is a normal person who cannot be bought - something to think about on this July 4th holiday. And for that reason she is unconventional in today's political atmosphere. This was an unconventional move and I suspect it will garner unconventional results.

Stupid ethics complaint dismissed

It's like a broken record around here with all the dismissed ethics complaints. Well, I never get tired of seeing these ankle-biters' dreams get crushed. The latest complaint dismissed was the most insane yet. It was the one that alleged Palin violated ethics rules by wearing a jacket with Todd's sponsor on it during the Iron Dog snowmobile competition.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - An Anchorage blogger says she was "extremely disappointed" to hear that her ethics complaint against Gov. Sarah Palin was dismissed.

An investigator for the Alaska Personnel Board this week dismissed the complaint by Linda Kellen Biegel, who alleged Palin violated ethics law in February when she acted as the official starter in the Tesoro Iron Dog snowmobile race while wearing a jacket promoting the sponsor of her husband's team.

The personnel board's independent investigator, Thomas Daniel, says there was no evidence Palin used her position for personal gain by wearing the jacket at the start and finish of the race.

Biegel disagrees that Palin has no personal gain in wearing a jacket promoting the sponsor of her husband's race team and says it could translate to "some type of benefit" for the Palins in the future.

Biegel says she is now weighing her legal options on a possible follow-up to the matter.

Another ethics complaint dismissed, board is getting frustrated

We received more great news yesterday that another frivolous ethics complaint filed by angry people who want to take Palin down at any cost was dismissed. It's the 13th ethics complaint wherein Palin has been found not guilty of any ethics violations.

The State Personnel Board on Wednesday dismissed the argument that Palin violated the Executive Branch Ethics Act in furthering her national political aspirations.

The complaint alleged that the governor used state staff to publish a press release announcing Palin as John McCain's running mate and that state resources were used for partisan political purposes.

The board, following the recommendation of an independent counsel, threw out the complaint for lack of merit.

On the heels of this dismissal, the Alaska Personnel Board vented their frustration over what appears to be blatant abuse of the system.

The personnel board members decided at a Wednesday meeting to work with the attorney general's office on how to make public the cost of addressing each ethics complaint, without violating the board's confidentiality rules.

"We've spent pretty close to about a third of a million dollars, and it's getting to be really expensive," said Al Tamagni, a member of the board.

The board is saying that the people filing these complaints are costing the state precious time and money. They are abusing a system that was put in place to ensure people holding public office would act ethically. They're wasting the taxpayers money in their quest to take Palin down, and they have no apologies and no regrets.

Andree McLeod, an Anchorage activist who has filed multiple ethics complaints against Palin and her staff, said after the meeting that the board is trying to squash accountability by saying it costs too much.

"The whole way to mitigate all this is for Palin to behave ethically," said McLeod, who filed the complaint that was dismissed by the board on Wednesday.

Palin HAS acted ethically. The complaints have been dismissed, and keep on getting dismissed. That's the point of what the board said - you're wasting the state's resources because none of these complaints are coming to fruition.

For activists like Andree McLeod, this is just a platform he's using to repeat the line given to him by whoever is leading this crusade: "Palin needs to act ethically and we'll stop filing complaints." To hell with the outcome, they're going to keep filing complaints no matter how much of a drain it is on the state. I wonder how much he's getting paid, and how far up this goes. Who is really behind this. They act like the Borg collective with how they repeat the same lines over and over. Creepy. I'm just happy these keep getting dismissed and the board is saying something about it.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, the good-government group that filed the complaint, argued that candidates aren't supposed to use donor money for personal expenses such as clothes. The FEC ruled Tuesday that the ban doesn't apply to party money, however.

That AP story goes on to list exactly what she bought, where she bought it and how much it cost. They even quoted "experts" saying the FEC's ruling was incorrect. That's the AP showing its true colors trying to paint Palin as a disconnected bimbo on a shopping spree. Unfortunately, that's the only halfway decent article from MSM I could find on the matter.

Great news! AK State Personnel Board dismissed ethics complaints

From the Campaign Spot I read that the AK State Personnel Board cleared Palin of some of the frivolous ethics complaints filed against her. Great! Hopefully now the smearers will learn that abusing the system in order to attack Palin won't get them anywhere.

Palin establishes official Legal Defense Fund

Great news! I know this is a couple days old but I wanted to publish it anyway. Palin finally set up an official legal defense fund to fight the frivolous ethics complaints filed against her by left wing trolls.

There really is no basis to these complaints. Everyone knows it, including the people filing them. The ONLY reason they're filing them is so they can say "Palin has more ethics complaints filed against her than any other Governor" when she runs for re-election. They're playing very dirty politics right now. Hopefully her defense fund can put a stop to them.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has established a legal defense fund to help pay off more than $500,000 of debt caused by legal fees, the fund's trustee said today.

The Alaska Fund Trust will take donations to pay legal expenses incurred by the former Republican vice presidential candidate, her family and staff members. Ethics complaints against Palin have cost Alaska more than $1 million in taxpayer dollars, as well as $500,000 of Palin's personal money, according to the fund's Internet site.

"Over the past months it became increasingly clear that supporters of Governor Palin needed to help defend against the onslaught of frivolous attacks against her," the fund's trustee, Kristan Cole, said in a statement. "These baseless accusations are designed to inhibit her ability to focus on the issues Alaskans truly care about and force massive personal debt on her and her family."

The fund calls itself "one of the most restrictive and transparent" in history. It caps contributions at $150, allows only individuals to donate and bars money from federal and state lobbyists, as well as non-citizens.

Politico reports that the latest complaint against Palin came Wednesday, when an Anchorage woman accused Palin of using money from her political action committee, SarahPAC, to attend a right-to-life banquet in Indiana.

Palin victim of another frivolous ethics complaint

The left is continuing its vicious attack on Palin by filing more stupid ethics complaints against her. The latest one, filed Wednesday, claims that because she has a PAC she's violating ethics rules because they consider it to be "employment" outside the state. That is absolutely ridiculous. How many people in public office have PACs? Pretty much all the high-profile ones that's for sure. Hillary Clinton has a notoriously successful PAC and I don't think anyone has filed a claim like this against her.

You can tell the people in charge of these attacks just pulled this one out of thin air when the thought popped into their tiny pea brains. Palin has had her PAC for months and they're just now filing this complaint? If there were any hint of ethics violations involved, someone local in the Alaska political process would have filed one. The fact that these complaints can be filed so easily is a big problem. These people are abusing the system just to slander a Governor they don't agree with.

The latest ethics complaint against the governor alleges that she entered into a “contract” outside of her official duties in regard to a political action committee and that her recent trip to Indiana also conflicted with those duties.

“These allegations are categorically false and ridiculous, and are an abuse of the Executive Ethics Act,” Nizich said.

“We are blessed to live in a democracy in which everyone has the right to free speech, to petition their lawmakers, to vote, to run for office and, yes, to allege misconduct by public officials,” said Bill McAllister, the governor’s communications director. “But obviously the purpose of this complaint and the previous ones is to distract the administration and the public, and to paralyze the Department of Law and the executive branch.

Sarah's legal defense fund

Word on the blogs is that Palin's legal defense fund should be official tomorrow. I'll be on the lookout. This hasn't been confirmed but there's a strong possibility that she'll unveil it soon.

This is a great time to start an official fund because she's already been flogged with numerous, frivolous ethics complaints, which have no factual basis and are only filed with the intention to debase and bankrupt her.
