Palin's Paul Ryan endorsements are paying off for us long-term

Palin endorsed Paul Ryan's Roadmap on December 10, 2010. To my knowledge she was the first major contender to do so. When I wrote about it on this blog, I mentioned how at the time Ryan's Roadmap was considered somewhat of a risky proposition that only serious conservatives would endorse to either their success or their peril.

Now it's May 2011 and Ryan's Roadmap has become one of the most significant arguments in nearly every debate. Each candidate is framed on whether or not they endorse his plan and to what degree. Even the President had to make a rebuttal to Ryan's budget proposal during the budget talks. Not only has this piece of policy become so significant, but Ryan himself has become the go-to guy on our country's economic issues. Would this have happened if Palin hadn't endorsed the plan back in December?

Last Sunday, official 2012 candidate Newt Gingrich slammed the Medicare component in Ryan's budget proposal to his peril. Every major conservative pundit has declared Gingrich done in the 2012 race. I don't know if he did this to make waves in order to get the focus on him and to get more popularity or something, but whatever he wanted to accomplish completely backfired. The 2012 candidates need to realize that we are really fed up with big government and we're not going to forgive gaffes like this so easily.

Palin endorsed this plan in December. She endorsed Ryan's policy credentials throughout the past two years. It's because of her high profile endorsements that these economic policy debates are happening. She has such a great eye for who is going to be good for this country and who is passionate about their work. She's already paved the way for us picking a great nominee in 2012 - one who can go toe-to-toe with Obama and one who is not a RINO squish. Gingrich has been weeded out because of her. That's got to be a great feeling.

OBL's death brings questions on birth certificate release (for me)

Osama bin Laden's death is a relief to us all and an amazing accomplishment for our troops. The 10-year hunt is finally over. However, Obama's actions before and after this event have left many confused and feeling odd rather than happy. There was the Donald Trump show which seemed, to me, to unravel to a perfect end of Obama releasing his long form birth certificate. Very weird occurance for someone who has done everything imaginable to keep it hidden. Then a week later, Obama makes an announcement that OBL is dead and we killed him. I'm wondering why he even bothered with the birth certificate now. Was it because he thought people wouldn't trust him on the OBL death announcement? Did he know that he wasn't going to show the death photo, and then think that people would label him as hiding everything - the BC and now the death photo?
Not to get all conspiracy-theory on you, but Trump's call to release the BC came out of nowhere. And because of the insurmounting pressure of Trump's demand, Obama was forced to release the BC. See? He couldn't just produce the BC easily after two three years of hiding it. In literary terms, he needed an agent or external force to push him into this action. If you remember, for weeks before Trump made his demand, the corrupt media kept asking Republicans if they thought Obama was born here. Off the top of my head I know Palin, Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty were asked repeatedly in recent interviews and they ALL refused to take the bait. They ALL said it was a distraction from the real issues. Then Trump comes in coincidentally, poses as a Republican and demands it. Then Obama releases it.

And now Obama is refusing to release OBL's death photo. Obama's actions cause so much chaos and confusion. This is a moment where everyone could unite and be happy together. But Obama's weird actions, from not releasing the photo to treating the corpse with honor and according to Muslim tradition, have left most of us feeling empty, confused and second-guessing ourselves.

I've moved on and don't really care one way or another. It was just a thought in my head. But I do think it's very strange how this all happened given that Obama knew where OBL was for months. I'm just glad OBL is dead. It truly is a time to celebrate.

Question: Would you make the effort to attend the Palin inauguration?

I'm still pretty busy and not had much time for analysis of current events, so I'll post a question out there for you.

Would you attend Sarah Palin's inauguration should she be elected as POTUS?

It will be a monumental event, especially if it's the next term. It will end Obama's socialist/communist agenda then and there (and after only one term!). She is a strong conservative and the polar opposite of him policy-wise. Every sane person will breathe a sigh of relief when she's elected. Not to mention the fact that she'll be the first woman president.

I've thought about it a lot. Personally, she's my favorite candidate (of course) and a huge personal inspiration to me. I waited in line for hours in the dark and braved sub-30 degree weather to attend her book signing. I've written this blog for over two years following her career since the 2008 election. I've read her books, watch every speech I can, read transcripts, watch her interviews and TV appearances. I will help with her campaign should she run, in any way I can. But that's all from the comfort and convenience of my home and local city.

By 2013, my daughter will be two and we'll most likely not have taken a family vacation yet. I don't know if we could take her to a big event like that with her being only two. However, I think it would be an important event for her to attend and say she was there later in life. But if we don't take her, I don't even think I could go alone and leave her at home. Also, would it be worth the cost? On one hand, it's something we could watch on TV. On the other, it's a monumental point in history that I would greatly love to see in person.

I don't know. What do you think? We've always said that if our favorite sports team ever ended up in the championship game/series we would go, since it doesn't happen very often. Sarah Palin being inaugurated as POTUS would be on an epically larger scale than a sports team, to me. Would you travel to attend her inauguration, or the inauguration of someone you really liked and inspired you? If so, who?

What Palin chooses to include on Sarah Palin's Alaska

This is why Palin is the most honest "politician" we'll ever see. I put politician in quotes because she defies all definitions of the modern politician. She is not one. She's a citizen and public servant trying to do the best for her country.

Imagine if Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee had the opportunity to do a show like Sarah Palin's Alaska. They probably would take every opportunity to show how awesome they are, how they would be such amazing presidents, how they never make mistakes and are always right. They would try to smooth over and explain some of their past mistakes such as RomneyCare and Huckabee's Infamous Pardons. They would try to appeal to the largest audience as possible by projecting themselves as center-right politically. They would try to makeover their image in the most electable way possible.

However, we see Palin on her show attempting to climb a portion of Denali being scared out of her mind. It took her 45min to make one small step upward when she was unsure of where to place her feet. Later in that episode we see Todd able to scale that same portion in about 45 seconds. We see her kids fighting in the back of the RV, we see the Palin family in their commercial fishing business, and the traditions of cleaning the fish (blood and guts) with Todd's grandmother. We see Palin hunting and skeet shooting. These are all things that other candidates would never show, never. They would never be seen holding a gun, or cleaning fish on a table outside their grandmother's home - never. They would never show their kids as being anything other than perfectly well-behaved children. Track was featured trying to take over the family business and not really getting off to a good start. He slept in, broke the trailer and left it in the driveway, etc. To me that was very real. It looked like what every family in America who has a small business goes through when their children are transitioning to take it over. But Romney, et. al. probably wouldn't feature any kind of struggles like that because they would be afraid of how it affects public opinion and electability.

Politicians and pundits on the Right and Left have criticized her for being too conservative and unelectable in her image. They think she should be more generic, not do a television series, not have her daughter be on Dancing with the Stars, not hunt and fish - all so as not to offend "independents and moderates." What does Sarah do? She goes all-in showing her true life, fish blood and guts included. She basically says "I don't care what they want me to do. I'm going to follow my heart." She's taking this opportunity to show America who she is. This show will appeal to Independents who don't take the time to research or read her books. It's easy to watch TV, and it's entertaining, so those people will definitely be able to be amazed by her easily just by watching every week.

And I think that's why she's been criticized for doing this show. You know all the potential 2012 candidates (including Obama) would kill to have her show. They're so jealous. But they know that (1) they will never be given that chance because they're boring as dry wheat toast; and (2) if they did, no one would watch it and it would be an epic flop. So they fling mud. Meanwhile, Palin is just gaining more popularity by being herself and showing her true life unapologetically.

John Bolton for Palin's VP pick

I read in National Review Online that John Bolton is considering a run for POTUS in 2012. Besides Palin, he's one I would love to see run and would vote for him in a heartbeat. His passion and his strength is (obviously) foreign policy.

I've long thought that Bolton should be Palin's VP pick if she decides to run. I've also thought that one of her perceived shortcomings is her lack of foreign policy experience. Picking Bolton would immensely help her national electability in that regard.

In my opinion, Palin needs to overcome two major hurdles in order to be elected: her "quitting" the governorship; and her perceived lack of foreign policy experience. With this blog I've tried to address both points extensively and will continue to do so.

With his record and experience, Bolton pretty much resolves her foreign policy "shortcoming." In the NR piece, he says China will be a major factor:

This administration, and the Bush administration in its later years, badly handled China — handled it badly on North Korea’s nuclear program and its trade manipulation, including its ongoing discrimination against foreign business and investors. Both administrations have been too deferential to China in dealings across the full spectrum of issues.

On Palin being a potential nominee:

I don’t know enough about her views on foreign policy to comment, but the Republican field is filled with people who would be better than Obama on foreign policy.

I'll take it a step further and say that his statement reads to me that he is angling for a VP pick from the GOP nominee. He praises all potential candidates saying that any of them would be better than Obama. He is non-committal on Palin and says he doesn't know her views on foreign policy, yet you know damn well he knows. He doesn't want to fully support Palin and alienate the GOP nominee if it's not her. He's playing it cool for now and testing the waters, which is fine. He didn't come out and denounce her immediately like most insecure candidates have. I'd venture a guess that he's pretty in line with Palin as far as foreign policy views.

I believe he knows his POTUS campaign would not be very successful considering how popular some of the frontrunners are and how "niche" he is. Pretty much only political junkies have a thorough knowledge of him and his background. He probably would not be able to raise enough money or popularity to be the nominee, but he's laying the groundwork to be picked as the VP.

I've read his biography and will quote it here from time to time. It's compelling and he's an amazing person. He's not as charismatic as Palin (who is), but it's abundantly clear that he's passionate about protecting our country, protecting our troops and keeping America safe. He knows how to play the inside political game, and he knows how to negotiate with foreign diplomats. In short: he's the total foreign policy package.

He did get this zinger about Obama into the NR piece:

After four years of practicing, he’ll almost look like a commander-in-chief.

Haha. Good one. Maybe he is as charismatic as Palin after all.

I'm sure he *thought* he'd be a hero, but instead he's going to prison

During the 2008 campaign there were a few people so crazy that they voluntarily fell on the sword for Obama, probably thinking that they would be national heroes or rewarded with a seat in his administration. For instance there was "Troopergate" and the myriad of baseless ethics complaints, and not to mention David Kernell, the son of a (Democrat) congressman, who hacked Palin's email account thinking that he would set the world on fire with its "scandalous contents." He thought he was going to win the Congressional Medal of Honor and be BFF with Obama.

Instead, the 22-year-old was found guilty of using criminal means to interfere with a federal election, convicted of a felony and will probably get some time in prison. Was it worth it?

A federal jury in Knoxville last week convicted David Kernell, 22, of two charges in connection with the 2008 episode where he accessed the personal Yahoo e-mail account of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and then initiated a worldwide rummaging of its contents.

Kernell was found guilty of computer fraud - a misdemeanor subject to a prison term of up to one year -- and obstruction of justice, which carries a maximum 20-year sentence. He was found not guilty of wire fraud and the jury deadlocked on a fourth charge of identity theft, according to a report by WBIR.com.

Obama to Palin: Sit down and shut up

Recently Palin appeared on Sean Hannity's show criticizing Obama's nuclear "strategy." The "strategy" being the controversial practice of telling the world that we won't use nuclear weapons on countries that sign a worthless piece of paper, or on countries who don't have that technology. Palin compared it to kids playing in a schoolyard and telling a bully that if he punches you in the face you won't punch him back.

The problem with the strategy, as Palin notes, is the fact that you're telling your enemies what you're going to do in response to being attacked. This makes us less safe and doesn't protect us. We have to keep our enemies guessing. We may or may not use certain technologies, and we may or may not use them to a certain degree - but we have the option to do whatever we choose. Telling our enemies (and we do have enemies) exactly how we will respond to a direct threat from them is very troubling.

Obama was on Good Morning America this morning interviewed by George Stephanopoulos and Stephanopoulos asked Obama about Palin's criticism. Guess what Obama's response was? A very arrogant, dripping with smugness: "Last I checked, Sarah Palin's not much of an expert on nuclear issues." Interesting response, Obama. I guess he thinks Americans are so stupid that we wouldn't notice that he didn't answer the question. He also brings attention to his own lack of experience in nuclear issues. Tell me your experience Mr. President, please. That should have been Stephanopoulos' next question. Sarah Palin's experience is not the issue. The issue is his dangerous and stupid nuclear strategy that leaves the US and our allies less safe. The issue is bullying our ally Israel into signing a worthless document that will make them less safe in the face of serious legitimate threats. If you take away Palin and listen to her argument on its own, it's a serious counter-point to Obama's strategy and it deserves a response. Obama is telling Americans: "Palin doesn't deserve a response. People who don't have nuclear experience don't deserve a response. People who hold Palin's same views on the subject don't deserve a response." I'm glad this is what my President thinks of Americans.

For the record, Palin does have nuclear experience, way more than Obama did when he was elected President. Palin was Governor of Alaska and there is a nuclear defense facility there. Also she was in charge of the Alaska National Guard - so Obama was wrong.

Obama's dig at Palin and 2012 campaign slogan

While watching the SOTU last night with my husband I noticed a few times Obama said the word "quit." That is a buzzword for me and any other Palin supporters. Ever since she made her decision to resign from office the Left has accused her of being a quitter. They repeat that line constantly. When I heard Obama say it I immediately thought it was a subtle dig at Palin. My husband didn't think so.

His speech was definitely not a state of the union; it was a campaign speech. It was all about looking forward, glossing over any mistakes he made and generally propping himself up as awesome. Since the tone of the speech was campaign instead of presidential, I started to feel like it was campaign time again and how would Palin compete against him if they both had their parties' nominations.

Obama ended the speech with a loud, enthusiastic and rousing "We don't quit. I don't quit!" To me that was a clear campaign slogan for 2012. I can picture him running ads with the clip of him saying that. Obama will do everything to undercut Palin and destroy her before she can run for President. I have no doubt that his phrase was intended for her, like a warning shot. It was also a cue for his rabid supporters to contine with the "she quit" meme. My husband did not agree with me, but I still see it that way.

I watched this on Fox & Friends this morning and I really liked what John McCain had to say about Obama's state of the union speech. I know Palin was on Hannity discussing it but I can't find the video.

Reading Going Rogue

My preordered copy arrived yesterday and I started reading it last night. I'll post a review when I finish it.

I can't help but wonder while I'm reading is what John McCain must be thinking - not in the context of backstabbing aides, but in the campaign as a whole. Reading this book, you get to see the real Sarah who is of course an amazing person. The family photos in the book could be your family, my family, anybody's family. She is a regular American citizen who worked hard to be elected governor without all the networking, finances and endorsements of uber rich elite career politicians. And yet McCain didn't seem to appreciate her. Somewhere there was greatness in him to choose Palin but then he went soft on fighting Obama during the campaign and didn't try hard enough to make sure Obama didn't win. Now we have someone in the White House who hates the America that Palin embodies so much. I just don't get it.

And that's not how Palin wrote the book, from that perspective - not at all. That's just what *I* was thinking while reading it. It's a great shame that she isn't our VP right now. Reading the book you know she is exactly the person we need. We already knew that, but reading Going Rogue just reinforces it. My heart is broken that McCain/Palin didn't win. But the silver lining is that hopefully it paved the way for her to run for President, without having the shackles of being only the VP, and win!

Obama's use of symbolism

Obama loves to use symbolism in his daily public life. I suppose it appeals to the idealogue in him, but it's almost creepy the way he acts like the world is a stage on which to interpret metaphors and symbols instead of being a leader of real people and solving real problems.

Take for instance today. It was announced that the 9/11 mastermind and other terrorists will be tried in a federal court civilian trial in New York City. This decision made by Obama shows a complete disregard for the massive loss of human life that happened right down the street from where the trial will take place. In fact, the courthouse was in the shadow of the World Trade Center towers, before the terrorists destroyed them and killed thousands of innocent Americans. He reduced the horrific acts of terror from being war crimes to simply "criminal acts." He's forcing the New Yorkers who are still reeling from this attack, to live alongside KSM while he defends himself against the atrocities he committed against them. The NYFD and NYPD will have to maintain security during the trial. Obama just forced them to them all to relive their personal hell each day the trial drags on.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but since it's a federal trial couldn't it be held anywhere like DC, Chicago, Seattle, anywhere? It didn't have to be in NYC. With this announcement, he's making a huge statement as to how he perceives the 9/11 attacks - no big deal to him at all. And that is symbolic. To him, who cares if it happened to the people of that city? He doesn't think they've suffered enough to warrant any backlash from the trial being held there.

I won't even get into the fact that it's going to be a civilian trial. It's detestable on so many levels and Andy McCarthy at The Corner speculates that the reason could be to use the information gathered during the trial to strengthen Obama's interrogation case against the CIA and top Bush administration officials. If that is one of the reasons, I will never forgive him.

This isn't the first time he's used symbolism to express his beliefs:

Uses of symbolism during the 2008 election campaign

--During the 2008 election campaign Obama stopped wearing his flag pin. The flag pin was the symbol of our unification after the 9/11 attacks and every politician had been wearing them daily. His break from the pin signaled that voting for him would be a change or an end to the way we had been handling terrorism policy-wise since the attacks took place. George W. Bush represented unity and strength against terror; Obama would represent something else, but certainly not a continuation of Bush's policies. His decision was also symbolic in the way he perceived the attacks: they are over and we should move on. Removing the pin symbolized that we should go back to the we were before the attacks took place and not live with them in mind daily.

--Obama played the Jay-Z song "99 problems but a b*tch ain't one" after he won the Iowa primary and Hillary Clinton lost. You don't have to think too hard about the meaning of that disgusting use of symbolism.

--He also "flipped the bird" to Hillary while speaking about her during the campaign, and did the same thing to McCain during another speech.

Symbolism with foreign policy and leaders

--The bottom of Obama's shoes were photographed while he was on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The article states that it is an insult in the Arab world to show the bottom of your shoes to someone. Even though Israel doesn't necessarily share the custom, many felt insulted by the photo, which is exactly why Obama did it. He was insulting them in a subtle, symbolic way.

--He announced that he would scrap the missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, giving in to a demand from Russia, on the 70th anniversary of Russia's invasion of Poland. Poland and the Czech Republic were occupied by the Soviet Union for 40 years and have since had a strenuous relationship with Russia. This announcement on the anniversary of the invasion was a clear symbol that Obama is interested in appeasing Russia and communist rule. He does not like individual freedom nor expressions of it.

This month, two more major uses of symbolism

--Obama made a "shout-out" and spoke in a jovial manner for approximately two minutes before discussing the Ft. Hood massacre for the first time. He had hours to prepare a speech, and everyone was breathless waiting to hear what he would say. At that time there were already 12 confirmed dead. He knew, without a doubt, that the entire nation was waiting to watch his speech. He gives a display of smiles, happiness and gives a "shout out" to Joe Medicine Crow who says won the Congressional Medal of Honor; however, he had not won the CMH. That is a military decoration awarded to someone in combat. Crow won the Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded to civilians. Two symbols there. One is that he undermined the CMH as some worthless, toss-away award when in fact it's the highest military decoration anyone in the military could ever receive and it's the highest honor to receive it. Obama shows that he has no respect for the award or the military by mistakenly saying that a civilian won it. Obama himself was the one who awarded Crow the PMF on August 12, 2009 - a mere three months ago - and he "mistakenly" confuses it with the CMH? Please. This was a deliberate diss.

But the big symbol here was that Obama had zero empathy, zero respect and zero care for the acts of war on the United States on US soil. He had no feelings whatsoever that 12 military servicemen and women were murdered on their own base by a terrorist. He displayed his leadership and caring by goofing off for two minutes and giving shout outs instead of giving the dead the solemnity they deserve. But that's the symbol - he really was showing you what he really believes by doing that. You get to take away the meaning yourself.

--On Veterans Day last Wednesday he announced that he would wait several more weeks to decide on whether or not he will send more troops to Afghanistan, igorning his General's recommendation and leaving the troops already there flapping in the wind. It was also reported that if he does send more, it will be a far less amount than McChrystal's request. This was done on Veterans Day, the day we honor those who have served and are serving in the military. This symbol shows that he despises the military.


Whenever someone brings it to his attention that he offended someone by his symbolic gesture, Obama feigns ignorance - "Oh no, I didn't mean that!" or "What does that say about you that you would think of something like that?" So they get reduced to conspiracy theories and crazy ideas. But you can't deny that he does employ this technique to convey his true beliefs, add salt to the wound or to belittle something that someone holds dear.

Interesting that Palin is going on Oprah Nov. 16

Palin is going to be on the Oprah show on November 16, to promote Going Rogue. I am so intrigued by this and wonder how it will turn out. We all know the history of Palin and Oprah from last year. Oprah went all in to help fellow Chicago resident Obama win the presidential election last year, even going so far as to produce an infomercial for him. Despite Palin's wild popularity Oprah didn't invite her on the show - which is fine, it's her show.

But now all of a sudden Oprah wants to give Palin a platform to promote her book. I'm skeptical. I know Oprah will be polite and nice. I don't think this will be a Katie Couric moment for her. I think she does have a shred of integrity left and wouldn't want to use her show for that purpose - to purposely make a guest look stupid. Although, if I remember correctly she embarrassed that writer who lied about his biography while he was a guest on her show - but that's a totally different situation. I do get the sense that Oprah is not a Palin fan by any means and doesn't respect her. I am riveted wondering what kind of questions she'll ask Palin.

Oprah obviously has the golden touch when it comes to endorsements and celebrities who go on her show instantly receive a certain legitimacy of their work that might take years to achieve otherwise - her endorsement of Obama is great example of this. It's interesting to think that Palin's appearance on the show might boost her popularity outside hardline conservative circles - which is what all the NR and RINO folks have been saying "she needs to do." But given Oprah's audience it might go the other way - they may continue to dislike Palin and also start to dislike Oprah for having Palin on.

No matter what we know that Oprah will achieve one thing - a massive boost in ratings. I know I'll DVR her show, which I never do. And I really will be excited to see how this turns out for both Oprah and Palin.

Palin was right...again

Remember this awesome part of her RNC speech?

"But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot — what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger ... take more of your money ... give you more orders from Washington ... and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world." -Sarah Palin RNC acceptance speech 9/3/2008

She called out Obama in a big way there. She saw through his facade and cut to the true Obama politician: the one who believes in maximum government control and how he wants to weaken America. She perfectly described his character as one of rhetoric over accomplishment, and a dangerous idealogue. Palin again predicted the future accurately in her RNC speech made over a year ago. Obama is still continually crafting that image. All of Obama's speeches/apologies - Cairo, the U.N., the Olympics committee, etc. are part of his craft in progress. If you remember it's the same rhetoric he used during the campaign and he's still perpetually campaigning.

The Nobel committee is helping to craft the image that Obama wants to be, and try to recapture that campaign-mode spirit he once had. They've shown the ultimate desperation to get back to "blame it on Bush" with this prize. But Americans are not going to be deceived by this latest bit of political theater. They are now questioning and laughing at the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to Obama. His crafted image is wearing very thin and it seems like the only ones left who still believe it are Obama and his circle.

We see the Nobel Peace Prize "win" for what it is: an embarassment to Obama and his career. This award comes dangerously close to his Presidency being one big joke.

Wow.

This just affirms that the Left has infested and ruined this award, as they do with all awards, and it is now given to anyone who can be a mouthpiece to spread Leftist ideology to the masses. The award was tainted when they gave it to Jimmy Carter and then Al Gore - now it is thoroughly diseased. Giving this award to Obama means that the Nobel Peace Prize has become a joke, it means nothing and is a complete farse.

Obama has been President for a mere eight months. He has accomplished nothing of significance whatsoever in his presidency or prior to that. And he certainly has not given hope for a more peaceful world, coming off the heels of abandonning the missile defense shield. The only thing he has accomplished is being elected as President.

Contrast Obama's non-accomplishments with President Bush. He really did give peace to people around the world, by nationbuilding in Iraq and restoring democracy there. He protected Americans from another attack. Obama has done nothing even close to that, and has in fact made it easier for more attacks to happen - not just here but around the world, especially Israel.

Let's face it. This award is just like the Oscar, Pulitzer, Tony, etc. and any other possible award there is. It starts off being a legitmate award until the Left gets their hands on it. Then they completely destroy any authority the award has in its respective field by giving it to non-deserving Lefties who do nothing except actively spread Leftist ideology. This is pathetic.

Palin on a roll with two FB entries today

In the first note she stresses our need to win in Afghanistan, and in the latest note she discusses our need for energy independence. While the administration is taking its eye off the ball with healthcare and the Olympics, Palin brings our focus back to issues that are really pressing right now.

She also calls out Obama for campaigning on Afghanistan as a candidate and now seemingly abandoning it after He Won. I was wondering if anyone voted for him because they agreed with his views on Afghanistan. I bet those people are crushed right now. It also seems like the Left is having a hard time admitting he is a fraud and slimey just like every other corrupt politician out there. He's no different. Just say anything to get elected.

The British newspaper The Independent reported today that Gulf oil producers were negotiating with Russia, China, Japan and France to replace the dollar in pricing oil with a basket of currencies.[1] According to the Wall Street Journal, Arab oil officials have denied the story, but even the possibility of such a talk weakens the dollar and renews fears about its continued viability as an international reserve currency.[2] In fact, today a United Nations official called for a new global reserve currency to replace the dollar and end our “privilege” to run up huge deficits.[3] We can see the effect of this in the price of gold, which hit a record high today in response to fears about the weakened dollar.[4]

For two years as a candidate, Senator Obama called for more resources for the war in Afghanistan and warned about the consequences of failure. As President, he announced a comprehensive new counterinsurgency strategy and handpicked the right general to execute it. Now General McChrystal is asking for additional troops to implement the strategy announced by President Obama in March. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers in harm's way in Afghanistan right now. We owe it to all those brave Americans serving in uniform to give them the tools they need to complete their mission.

Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said the US government was wasting taxpayers' money and could aggravate poverty, said delegates at her first speech outside North America on Wednesday.

Palin, the former governor of Alaska, gave hundreds of financial big-hitters at the CLSA Investors' Forum in Hong Kong a wide-ranging speech that covered Alaska, international terrorism, US economic policy and trade with China.

Her performance, which was closed to the media, divided opinion.

Some of those who attended praised her forthright views on government social and economic intervention and others walked out early in disgust.

"She was brilliant," said a European delegate, on condition of anonymity.

"She said America was spending a lot of money and it was a temporary solution. Normal people are having to pay more and more but things don't get better. The rich will leave the country and the poor will get poorer."

Two US delegates left early, with one saying "it was awful, we couldn't stand it any longer". He declined to be identified.

Palin, who shot to national and international prominence after Senator John McCain picked her as his running mate last year, stepped down as Alaska governor in July but has provided little insight into her future plans.

She is expected to write a book and has said she will travel the country campaigning for candidates who share her political ideology.

In the CLSA speech, which lasted about 75 minutes, Palin also tackled the recent US trade spat with China, a country she said the United States should have the best possible relationship with.

According to delegates, she said US President Barack Obama's administration worsened an already difficult situation when earlier this month he slapped duties on Chinese tire imports blamed for costing American jobs.

They said she praised the economic policies of former US President Ronald Reagan and criticised the current administration for intervening too much during the recent financial crisis.

Although she touched on the threat posed to the United States by terrorism and talked about links with traditional US allies in Asia such as Japan, Australia and South Korea, one Asian delegate complained she devoted too much time to her home state of Alaska.

"It was almost more of a speech promoting investment in Alaska," he said, declining to be named.

"As fund managers we want to hear about the United States as a whole, not just about Alaska. And she criticised Obama a lot but offered no solutions."

Another said he was disappointed that she took only pre-arranged questions.

There were no apparent gaffes though from Palin, who was mocked during last year's presidential campaign for her lack of experience in foreign affairs and for her verbal blunders.

What we know and what we can expect

I don't know if anything will come of Big Government's report that the White House was caught using the NEA for political ads for the Obama campaign. But for us Palin supporters what we know for sure is that Obama was caught creating Palin smear ads. He was caught making smear ads: (1) using a big PR firm; (2) the smear ads were made to look like they came from "grass roots;" and (3) it costs thousands of dollars, possibly tens of thousands to do it.

What we can learn from this is - Obama is a professional candidate. He will stoop to no low in getting elected. He's been deep in the trenches of ACORN for over a decade. He did the same thing to his opponents in Illinios in order get elected as a Senator.

Obama has deep pockets, friends in high places and a corrupt media that supports him. We have to expect more of these types of smear jobs if Palin continues to stay in the public eye or if she decides to run for any kind of public office. He works very hard to make sure nothing is traced back to him. This is only one tiny shred of evidence but it's something we can learn from.

Ace of Spades is again on the trail following the latest Breitbart uncovering of the culture of corruption in Washington.

Unfortunately I'm at work, and they block certain websites so I cannot see what happened with the NEA Conference Call. I believe what's going on is that certain people in very close proximity to the president could be caught spending federal money (through the NEA) on political ads for Obama. At least that's what I can gather. I'm not able to visit those sites to make sure and Ace is the only one I can see right now.

HmmMMMM!: Winner & Associates Was on NEA Conference Call
A bit of backstory.

Before the election, My Pet Jawa found that very-professional style supposedly "grassroots" nasty hit job videos on Sarah Palin were being posted on YouTube.

He discovered that these were created by a Democrat-connected California ad agency named Winner & Associates.

The suspicion was that the ads had been created, covertly, with Axelrod's connivance, to create a fake "grassroots viral video" that couldn't be traced to Obama.

But it couldn't be proven. In the end it was smoke but no fire. A lot of smoke, and yet no smoking gun.

Ethan Winner confessed to making the video, but claimed he hadn't had contact with David Axelrod for ten years, it was all just something he felt like spending thousands of dollars on himself. As a goof.

Well.

Okay.

What was a rep for Winner & Associates doing on that conference call?

You know, the one where White House official Buffy Wicks thanked everyone for helping them win the campaign?

I don't know about this yet -- I really do not know if I can say this significantly advances the case. Need to mull it.

But it sure seems... coincidental.

I remember during the election last year when Obama had much higher poll ratings than McCain and the corrupt media* would not stop talking about it. They kept saying Obama was going to win in a landslide. I thought they used that tactic to dissuade Republicans from even voting.

Well, today Obama's approval rating index is at -8, which means there are 38% who strongly disapprove of Obama, and 30% who strongly approve: 8% more disapproving.

Where's the media now?? Crickets.
